Coffee Shop

Design Idea

There are beautiful hill views in the coffee shop. Collections not displayed in the exhibition area are shown here, enriching and enhancing the visitors’ overall experience.

Many traditional and emerging museums around the world have restaurants attached. The coffee shop aims to be a destination in itself. Visitors can relax, and enjoy an opportunity for social interactions during their private time when visiting museums and participating in activities.

The coffee shop offers various types of Italian coffee drinks such as "caffe' marocchino", "caffe' affogato" and "caffe' leccese" on its menu. Visitors will experience the Italian coffee culture.

The environment at the coffee shop has an aesthetic vision. With a cup of coffee or fragrant tea, while savouring the moment, the visitors can gaze out the window at the mountains, flowing water and the lush scenery of the Aberdeen Reservoir right before their eyes.

The design of the coffee shop has a particular charm, blending the dining area and display cabinets, showcasing "Chinese and Western culinary cultural utensils" from the Song, Ming, Qing, and Republic of China periods (960-1949), such as teapots, covered bowls, cups, and saucers for both domestic and foreign markets. The images on the utensils feature rich Chinese stories, ancient Greek myths and scenes of the religious European tradition.

In addition to items of the famous European porcelain that emerged in the 18th century, such as German Meissen, Hungarian Herend, French Limoges, and Italian Capodimonte, a contemporary set of Italian Richard Ginori dinnerware featuring Chinese-inspired colours and patterns draws the visitors' eyes. These exhibits number around 200 and will be changed regularly every few months.

The coffee shop is a leisure space filled with artistic culture where visitors can learn about the stories of Chinese and foreign cultures through a QR code. The museum also features uniquely designed drinking vessels, which visitors can purchase in the gift gallery if they are interested.

THE COFFEE SHOP IS LOCATED AT THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF THE MUSEUM FLOOR, COVERING AN AREA OF ABOUT 75 SQUARE METERS AND OVERLOOKING THE PANORAMIC VIEW OF ABERDEEN RESERVOIR.
